Project I See You hosts two to three immersion trips to the DR each year. Immersion trips are intended to be a liminal space, where participants are outside of what is familiar to them and are open to new people, relationships, God, and themselves in ways they might be out of touch with. Immersion trips include time to bond as team as well as time to relate to the women of La Canita and the people of La Victoria. We develop a vision for each trip and team in the pre-trip meetings.
This is not like a typical “mission trip.” You don’t have to be in a certain spiritual place to go. You just have to commit to come to pre-trip meetings, agree to our trip guidelines, respect trip leaders, and have an open spirit.
Our trips are women-led and also we often warmly welcome men on our immersion trips. Our immersion trip schedule typically includes: a Spring mother/daughter trip (every other year, on the even years, over spring break), a Summer women’s trip, and a Fall “everybody” trip.
Go to Events to see about our upcoming immersion trips.
We encourage our trip participant to raise funds through their own networks and to participate in our annual Day of Beauty fundraiser which helps support individuals own fundraising efforts for trips through ticket sales. Self pay is also an option. We also value having a grant fund to enable women to go that might not have the bandwidth to pay for their own trip for whatever reason. Below are some pictures of the house where we stay during our La Victoria Immersion Trips. You will be sleeping on an air mattress under a mosquito net canopy. It's really is cozy!
